India Post Opened 21,413 Gramin Dak Sevak Jobs in 2025

The Indian Postal Department called on job seekers to dust off their keyboards in February 2025. With 21,413 vacancies in 23 postal circles, the roles of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevak were up for grabs. All you needed was basic tech skills for the online application and a solid scorecard from your school days.

What's the Buzz All About?

The postman gig was open across India, with the highest number of vacancies in Uttar Pradesh. To be in the running, you needed to have passed your Class 10 exams and be aged between 18 and 40. The application fee was Rs 100, with women, SC/ST, PwD, and transwomen candidates exempt. The process ran entirely online on the India Post GDS Online Portal.

The Stress-Free Selection Process

If endless hours of exam prep aren’t your thing, the selection process was merit-based, with no written exam. Your Class 10 marks decided your fate as a friendly neighborhood post agent. India Post had been expected to publish 7 to 8 region-wise merit lists, and on its GDS portal it published a first shortlist followed by five supplementary lists for this cycle.

Dates, Docs, and Doing it Right

Timing was everything. Applications closed on March 3, 2025, and a short correction window followed in early March. Candidates applied on the official website, where they registered, filled in the form, and uploaded scanned documents.

Shortlisted candidates were then listed state-wise on the portal. That 2025 portal is no longer active, and newer GDS cycles now run on India Post’s GDS online engagement page.

For future postal hopefuls: keep your Class 10 marksheet, ID, and a recent photo scanned and ready, and check the fee rules for your category before you apply.

A socially impactful role could be just an application away.
