Remote Work Trends 2025, Hybrid Roles Surge While Fully Remote Jobs Stall
Hybrid hit 24% of new U.S. job postings in late 2025 while fully remote stalled at 11%. See how 2026 changed the picture and what it means for job seekers.

Remote Work’s Not Dead—It Just Got... Predictable
Once hailed as the future of work, remote jobs are no longer the shiny new perk—they're just the standard ask in 2025. According to Robert Half data for the fourth quarter of 2025, 24% of new job postings were hybrid and 11% were fully remote, which made hybrid the favorite middle child of 2025: mature, reliable, and far more common than fully remote work.
Fully remote gigs? They plateaued at around 11%, less than half the hybrid share. That revolutionary dream of sipping lattes while coding from Bali? Still a thing—but less common than you’d hope.
Senior Staff Get the Sweetest Deals
Experience comes with perks, and in 2025, it means you’re more likely to work in your pajamas. That gap held into 2026. In Robert Half’s Q2 2026 job-posting data, senior-level roles (5+ years of experience) were 12% hybrid and 4% remote, compared with 8% hybrid and 2% remote for entry-level roles. Moral of the story? Grind now, Zoom later.
Geography Still Matters
Some places get it. Minnesota and Massachusetts led hybrid job postings in Q2 2026 at 13% each, followed by New York at 12%, according to Robert Half.

The Hybrid Hype
Hybrid roles were where the real growth was in 2025. They reached 24% of new listings in Q4 2025. Companies bet that splitting time between office and home keeps both managers and workers happy (or at least, equally annoyed).
But 2026 brought a sharp reversal. According to Robert Half, fully in-office roles rose from 65% of new job postings in Q4 2025 to 87% in Q2 2026, with just 10% hybrid and 3% fully remote. Workers who already have flexibility are holding on to it. Gallup found that as of May 2026, 52% of remote-capable U.S. employees worked hybrid and 26% worked fully remote. For many job seekers, flexibility is now a negotiation starting point.
Whether you're job-hunting, hiring, or just trying to get your boss to okay Thursdays from home, hybrid work is still a big part of the picture. The question is: how flexible will flexibility get?
