Samsung and Union Finalize 5.1% Wage Increase for 2025
Samsung Electronics and its largest union agreed a 5.1% pay rise for 2025, with 19,412 of 22,132 voting members backing it. See the terms and what came next.

Samsung Rings in the Cash
In the bustling world of tech, big news comes with bigger paychecks—or at least that's the case for employees at Samsung Electronics. In March 2025, the Korean tech giant clinched a deal with its largest labor union for an average 5.1% salary hike in 2025 (a 3.0% base increase plus 2.1% for performance). This isn’t just a case of numbers going up—it’s a signal of potentially harmonious days ahead after a rocky wage negotiation landscape.
The National Samsung Electronics Union (NSEU) went all-in with this agreement: 87.7% of participating members voted in favor, or 19,412 of the 22,132 members who cast a ballot. The union represents about 36,000 workers, or roughly 30% of Samsung’s workforce.
Not Just Pocket Change
But wait, there’s more! Aside from the wage bump, this new agreement also sweetens the pot with some intriguing perks. Employees are set to receive bonus points redeemable at Samsung’s exclusive in-house online mall, which could mean new gadgets galore. And that’s not all—there are 30 treasury shares on the table per worker, arguably equating to a nice little future nest egg.
Holistically, Samsung is stepping up its game in the employee benefits realm by establishing a joint task force with the union to refine their performance pay system. Moreover, showcasing their family-friendly outlook, the company plans to rehire retirees who have three or more children, because after all, who doesn't like a big happy Samsung family?

A Hug After a Strike
Last year’s historic strike—which was the company's first—was a critical moment and not just background noise. The strike catalyzed urgent conversations about compensation and recognition within one of the world’s most influential tech entities. Fast forward to 2025, Choi Wan-woo, the vice president at Samsung Electronics, described the new wage deal as a new dawn for labor-management relations. The vice president said, "This wage agreement will be a turning point for greater harmony between labor and management."
With labor tensions easing for now, the deal set a calmer tone after the 2024 strike. That calm was tested again in 2026: in May, Samsung’s unions approved a chip-division bonus deal with 73.7% support, signed just hours before a planned general strike.
